Developed by Ji-yu Bak

Ji-yu Bak studied China Studies and Journalism at the University of Kookmin in South Korea. Curious about differing cultural perspectives in the East and the West, she also lived in Germany for a year as an exchange student. During that time she expanded her academic interest in communication across cultures.
Ji-yu Bak also holds an MSc in Intercultural Communication for Business and the Professions from the University of Warwick, UK. After returning to Korea, she translated the Global PAD CPD Tools (Professional and Academic Development Continuing Professional Development) into Korean. Co-developed by Professor Helen Spencer-Oatey and Dr Andrew Davidson of the University of Warwick, these intercultural learning and journaling tools are used to help develop behavioural flexibility in unfamiliar cultures. She also undertook an internship assisting in the International Researcher Exchange Program at the National Research Foundation of Korea. Ji-yu is currently working as an intercultural trainer by her brand ‘Smell the Seoul’ and she has been a board member of Young SIETAR since 2021.

She enjoys travelling, yoga, and engaging with the subject of mindfulness. Her best moments of the day are enjoying a great cup of coffee.
