New Horizons workshop, NAFSA, Philadelphia

Greetings New Horizons friends,

A short update, this time from the “New World.” We now have registered New Horizons users in thirty-five nations! And there are several grass roots initiatives in Europe to develop similar games in local contexts.

If you are attending NAFSA this week in Philadelphia, we will conduct a New Horizons workshop for teachers and international staff at 10:00 am on Friday, June 1, in the PCC section, room 122A. I attach here our handout for our conference workshop.

Our original New Horizons game is still available as a free download. You can also order the heavy card stock boxed version. If you are not aware, our second diversophy®️ game product, the New Horizons Cultural Competence Mini-Games, is available for shipment. You can find the order link our own webpage here.

We often combine the New Horizons and Cultural Competence games in the same play session! I usually use a ratio of six NH cards to one Competence card. It works really well!

Our third product, the New Horizons youth game, will focus on issues of interest and concern to youth in Finland between the age of fourteen and twenty. This product has been in research and development now for two semesters. We have been working with Finnish high school and other Finnish and migrant youth to develop the content. We are scheduled to introduce the new game in Tokyo at the SIETAR Japan Global Conference in August.

If you have any interest in or would even like to contribute to our new youth oriented game, please contact me directly.

We thank you for your kind and active interest in New Horizons!

Cheers,

Steve Crawford
